How is my gift delivered?
Each item in the CAREgifts Catalogue is part of a CARE project that is empowering women, girls and their communities to LIVE, LEARN, EARN and LEAD so they can overcome poverty. Donations from the sale of a CAREgift contribute to the sector the item is associated with – health, education, livelihood improvement or leadership. For example, the funds raised from the sale of a blackboard will go towards CARE's education projects.
Can I ask for a gift to be delivered to a particular place?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. Specific CAREgifts have been requested by specific communities in the developing world to meet their most pressing needs. Working this way means that the gifts go to the communities where they will make the greatest difference.
Why are CARE's prices higher or lower than others I have seen?
CARE prides itself on being one of the most efficient organisations of its type in the world. Our overheads are extremely low. Price variations occur most often because the cost of supplying an item to one destination is higher or lower than supplying the same item to a different location. CARE sources items in local communities where possible, so local prices and transport costs vary.
What is included in the gift price?
Gift prices include the cost of the gift itself, plus all transport, administration and support costs. Gifts often include training and ongoing support. For example, an animal gift may include veterinary support, or a farming gift may include training in land care and optimum farming techniques.
When will I receive my gift cards?
We endeavour to ensure you receive your gift cards within one week, but please allow eight days for delivery especially around peak times like Christmas. We cannot guarantee timely delivery of gift cards for orders made between December 16th 2011 and January 3rd 2012. However, electronic cards are immediate and are available throughout the year.
Can the gift cards go directly to the person I am buying for?
We prefer to send the card directly to you, so you can write your own personal message and so the recipient knows who the CAREgifts are from. If you opt for the e-card, this can be sent directly to the person you are purchasing the gift for, or to yourself, whichever you prefer.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes. You will receive a tax deductible receipt for all gifts of more than two dollars (excluding the CARE piggy bank)
Can I simply make a donation?
Yes. The ordering process includes an option to make an additional donation of any amount you choose over and above the gift items you have purchased. There is also the option to give "The Most Valuable Gift of All" where the donation will go to where the need is greatest. This is simply a donation to CARE Australia. You will receive a tax deductible receipt and a gift card to pass onto someone special
Can I send my gift cards electronically?
Yes. This not only allows you to create a personalised e-card to send to your family, friends and loved ones; it also saves money and paper so that your gift goes further to help the people who need it most.
Can I get extra copies of the CAREgifts Catalogue?
Yes. If you contact CARE Australia we will send you a copy. You can call us on 1800 020 046.
How much does CARE spend on marketing and overheads?
We ensure that we maximise the donations that reach overseas projects, with 89 per cent of donations in 2010 directly spent on CARE's programs to help children, families and communities in need. The remaining 11 per cent was used for operational running costs including financial management, fundraising and community education. What should I do if I didn't receive my gift card?
